A renewed chieftaincy conflict at Bawku has allegedly claimed several lives, including that of an 11-year-old girl.
A report by asaaseradio.com indicates that the girl was killed on October 27, 2024, in her house.
The renewed conflict intensified over the weekend, with reported gunfires across several areas.
The report further indicated that three individuals were shot dead near the Ghana Highways Authority office on the same day the 11-year-old was killed.
According to local sources, since the inception of the shooting incident on October 26, the death toll has risen to about 15, with 20 individuals suffering various injuries.
Some of the injured have been transferred to the Tamale Teaching Hospital for treatment.
Security forces at Bawku are struggling to calm the situation due to limited personnel and inadequate resources.
Information gathered by Asaase Radio indicates that military units deployed in the area lack the necessary vehicles to respond promptly to the incidents.
The Ghana Police Service, on the other hand, is overwhelmed by the escalating violence that has engulfed several neighbourhoods due to insufficient resources, the report added.
