One of the three men who escaped from the Tema fishing Harbour Police Station, Eliasu Mohammed has been re-arrested.
He was caught while planning another armed robbery and in custody of ammunitions.
The other two convicts who escaped from lawful custody over the weekend by escaping through the roof of the Police Station are still on the run as the Police have intensified efforts to have them re-arrested.
According to the Deputy Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the Police upon a tip off re-arrested the convict Eliasu Mohammed at Okponglo in Accra.
He explained that the Regional Police Command mounted surveillance and also put intelligence in place which resulted in his re-arrest.
DCOP Yohuno added that the movement of the suspect was monitored “since that time until yesterday around 6pm when we had information that he went to Ashiaman to pick his weapons. He kept the weapons somewhere when he was in custody [with] the weapons safely kept somewhere in Ashiaman…and he was coming back to Accra and then to re-organize to form another squad for another operation.”
