Jailed 20 years for defilement

Tarkwa (W/R) Oct. 15 GNA - Murtala Mohammed, 54, alias Frenchman, a truck pusher was jailed 20 year for defiling an eight-year-old girl by a Tarkwa Circuit Court, presided over by Mr. John Aject Nasam. Prosecuting, Inspector Alex Asamoah of Tarkwa Police said, the accused stayed in the same house with the victims parents at Dadieso in the Western Region.

He said on February 13, 2004, the accused called the victim under the pretext of sending her when her mother had left for a nearby house to watch Television at about 2100 hours.

The accused lured the girl into a bathroom where he defiled her. After the act, the accused gave 2,000 cedis to the victim and told her not to tell anybody.

But the victim went to tell her mother and the accused was arrested.
