A 19-year-old woman who was sentenced to five years imprisonment for stealing three mobile phones with transfer units of GH? 200 and cash of GH? 715 cedis had her jail term reduced to 12 months by an Accra Fast Track High Court. Ms. Jennifer Tachie had appealed against her convict by a circuit court in Ashaiman for stealing.

When Jennifer’s case was called at the Fast Track High Court she knelt down and broke down in tears pleading with the court to forgive her and said she would not do that again.

The court presided, over by Mr. Justice Charles Quist, ordered her to sign a bond to be of good behavior for 12 months or had her five-year sentence imposed if she commits any offence.

When the court stated its order Jennifer, who had spent 12months jail term out of the five years, thanked the judge and ran to her seat.

The facts which led to Jennifer’s incarceration are that on September 9, 2011 Jennifer approached one Bright Tsrakese for a job and he (complainant) employed her as a salesgirl.

Jennifer then introduced one Raphael Amedzro as her husband.

The complainant gave Jennifer three Nokia phones and transfer units of GH? 200 cedis and cash of GH? 715 cedis to be given someone the complainant owed.

Jennifer escaped with the money and items to Peki in the Volta Region.

Complainant combed everywhere for Jennifer but to no avail. Later the complainant had information that Jennifer was at Peki and he caused her arrest.
