Three persons suspected to have been involved in the killing of the development chief of Ardeyman in the Amasaman municipality have been arrested by the Accra Regional Police Command.
The three – Asafoatse Nii Quaye Kortey, 39, Musah Mohammed, 28, and Rahim Yakubu, 20 – were arrested in another attempt to attack a “targeted victim”. They were arrested at Ridge View Hotel in Kwabenya on Monday, June 12. The three on Thursday, June 8 stormed the stool house of Ardeyman, where Nii Tetteh Saban and his kinsmen were performing annual rituals to mark the end of the ban on drumming and noise-making.
The suspects are said to have fired indiscriminately and also inflicting machete wounds on their victims. The deceased was chased by the suspects, police say, into a room of a relative where he ran to for safety. They followed him and fired him and inflicted machete wounds on him.
Realising he was dead, official reports say, they dragged the deceased into another room and sped off. One of the victims who sustained gunshot wounds was treated and discharged and another is still receiving treatment at the hospital.
Two unregistered motorbikes said to have been used in the deadly attack were retrieved by the police from the Hotel.
The police say investigations are still ongoing and the rest of the attackers who are at large will be “smoked out”.
