Emmanuel Ayittey, a 26-year-old labourer who lured a 13-year old pupil into his room at Omanjor and defiled her on Monday appeared before an Accra circuit court.

The accused has been charged with defilement of a child under sixteen years of age.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded into lawful custody to re-appear on October 4, 2012.

Chief Inspector I. A. A Ahor said the complainant who is the mother of the victim together with the accused resided at Omanjor.

He said on August 31, 2012 at about 2.00pm the victim was sent to go and fetch water from a nearby house and whilst she was going, the accused invited her to come to his room.

He said immediately the victim got where the accused was, he quickly held her hands and pulled her into his room, remove her underwear, inserted his penis into her vagina and in the process defiled her.

Chief Inspector Ahor said even though the victim shouted for help nobody came to her rescue and as such the accused took advantage of the situation to threaten the victim to have more sex with her if she tells anyone.

He said three days later, the mother detected blood in the victim’s underwear and questioned her about it. She mentioned the accused as the one who had sex with her.

He said a report was made to the Police and the complainant was given a Police medical form to send the victim to the hospital for examination and treatment. Chief Inspector Ahor said the victim was duly examined and the report was submitted whiles the accused was subsequently arrested and charged with the offence.
