Christian Addoquaye, a labourer who is accused of indecently assaulting his ex-lover’s eight year old daughter at Nungua has appeared before an Accra Circuit Court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku.

Addoquaye is said to have used his penis to “brush,” the vagina of the eight year old girl and afterwards inserted his fingers into her vagina.

Charged with indecent assault, Addoquaye pleaded not guilty.

Prosecuting Detective Inspector Judith B. Asante said the complainant is a trader who resides at Nungua with her three children including the victim.

Inspector Asante said both the complainant and accused were once lovers. On May 1, this year, the complainant sent the victim and her brother to go and buy food.

A few minutes later the victim’s brother came home without the victim and when the complainant asked she was told the victim was with the accused.

Prosecution said the complainant quickly went to the accused person’s house to call the victim only to see her ex-lover lying on the victim.

The victim told her mother that the accused person inserted his finger into her vagina and used his penis to “brush” her vagina.

The complainant quickly mobilized some men to arrest the accused person and send him to the Police Station.

She was offered a medical form to send the victim to the hospital.

The court admitted Addoquaye to bail in the sum of GH? 10,000.00 with three sureties one to be justified based on recent ruling by the Supreme Court that people accused of offences like robbery, defilement, rape and murder among others can now be granted bail while awaiting trial.

He is to reappear on May 30.
