Jerome Anlovi a 21-year-old labourer was on Monday sentenced to ten years imprisonment by an Accra Circuit Court for defiling a 12-year-old girl at Adenta-Commandos.
Anlovi pleaded guilty to the charge of defilement and prayed the court to deal leniently with him.
The court presided over by Mrs. Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku convicted him on his own plea. Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbire said, the complainant is a businesswoman residing with the victim who is her daughter.
Chief Inspector Atimbire said the convict also reside in the same vicinity with the complainant and works at her supermarket at Madina.
Prosecution said the complainant had offered the convict shelter in her home. The Prosecution said, on December 26, last year, the complainant saw the victim putting toilet roll in her pants.
When the complainant quizzed the victim, she told her that blood was oozing from her vagina. The complainant who thought the victim had menstruated waited for a month but did not see any blood.
Prosecution said on February 11, this year complainant quizzed the victim again where she said that when the complainant travelled to her hometown in Peki in the Volta Region, the convict came to watch television with her in their hall.
The prosecution said Anlovi had sex with the victim while her siblings were fast asleep and warned her not to inform anyone about the act.
Prosecution said on February 12, this year, a report was made to the Police and a medical report form was issued to the victim to seek medical care. “Later the accused was arrested”.
