Labourer jailed for stealing fuel

Juaso(Ash), Feb. 13, GNA - The Juaso Circuit court has sentenced Abass Kanjarga a farm labourer to two years imprisonment in hard labour on his own plea for stealing five gallons of diesel worth 140,000 cedis. Police Chief Inspector B.L. Amoah told the court presided over by Mr Justice Jacob B. Boon that the complainant sent his articulated truck to Obogu in the Asante-Akim South district to cart cocoa to Tema. He said at dawn on December 25, last year, Kanjarga under the cover of darkness siphoned five gallons of diesel from the truck. Police Chief Inspector Amoah said the complainant detected the theft and decided to keep vigil to arrest the culprit.

He said at dawn on December 25, last year, Kanjarga under the cover of darkness siphoned five gallons of diesel from the truck. Police Chief Inspector Amoah said the complainant detected the theft and decided to keep vigil to arrest the culprit. He said the accused returned the following day at the same time to siphon more fuel from another articulated truck during which the complainant raised the alarm and the accused was arrested. The prosecutor said the accused led the complainant to his house where they retrieved five gallons of diesel and the accused was handed over to the Obogu police and after investigations charged with the offence.
