Bibiani (W/R), Aug 3, GNA - A 30-year-old lotto agent at Sefwi-Bekwai in the Bibiani-Ahwiaso-Bekwai district of the Western Region, who was alleged to have defiled an eight-year-old girl, was on Tuesday remanded in police custody by the Bibiani magistrate court.

Kwabena Kingsley Ve's plea was not taken. The magistrate gave order for him to be sent to the Bibiani Government Hospital for treatment for heart attack while in court. He will re-appear on August 11.

Police Detective Sergeant K. Kodua told the court that at about 2030 hours on June 25, this year, one Mr Kwaku Kodua sent the victim, who is his daughter to collect national lottery coupons books from Ve. He said when the girl got to the house of the accused, there was a sudden downpour and so she was not able to return to her house immediately and the accused took advantage and defiled her. Detective Sergeant Kodua said the accused after defiling the girl gave her 2,000 cedis and warned her not to tell anybody about what happened to her.

He said, however, the girl became very sick and when she was questioned by her father, she told him the ordeal she went through and showed him the 2,000 cedis given to her by Ve.

The prosecution said the father therefore rushed her to the hospital where it was confirmed that she was defiled and so the matter was reported to the police who arrested him. Aug. 03 05
