Kumasi, Aug. 23, GNA - A Kumasi circuit court has granted a 60-million -cedi bail with a land lease as a justification to a 21-year-old unemployed for allegedly defiling and impregnating a 13-year-old pupil.
Faud Adams pleaded not guilty to the charge and he will re-appear on September 12.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Comfort Kyei-Baffour told the court presided over by Madam Wilhemina Hammond that, the victim is a primary six pupil and resides with her grandmother at Sepe-Timpom, a suburb of Kumasi, whiles Adams also lived in the same vicinity. She said in March this year at about 1300 hours, the accused lured the victim to his house, where he forcibly had sexual intercourse with her.
The prosecutor said after Adams had satisfied himself he threatened to kill the victim if she disclosed it to anyone. Chief Inspector Kyei-Baffour said after four months the victim's grandmother observed that the victim was pregnant and upon questioning she mentioned Adams as the one responsible. The grandmother then made a formal complaint to the Domestic Violence and Victims' Supporting Unit of the Police Service that led to the arrest of Adams, who admitted the offence in his caution statement. A police medical form issued to the complainant in respect of the victim to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) confirmed that the victim was pregnant.
