Man arrested for alleged murder of girlfriend

Suhum (E/R) Jan. 28, GNA - Kwbena Masheleshele Borbor, a 45 year old driver was at the weekend arrested by the police at Suhum for the alleged murder of his girl friend Akosua Gawuku, also called Mamanor, a 55 yrs old trader of Asuboi near Suhum.

A spokesman of the victim's family, Mr. Tay Suka told the Ghana News Agency that Akosua's body was found at the outskirts of the Asuboi Township.

Mr. Suka said the family sent some emissaries to the boy friend's house, but on seeing them Borbor took to his heels and bolted. A formal complaint was subsequently made to the Suhum police, the family spokesman added.

Meanwhile, the police at Suhum have confirmed the arrest of the culprit while the body of the victim has been deposited at the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
