A Fulani herdsman, Sulley Hassan, aged 40, has reportedly been murdered by an unemployed youth leader at Alabota in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region.

According to a report by 3news.com, the suspect, identified as Selase Dotse, murdered the deceased when Hassan, who had received a report from his son, confronted him for attacking his herd and keeping the animals hostage.

Selase, who, per the report, did not take the query lightly, dashed home and brought back a sharp cutlass, which he is suspected to have used to kill one of the cows, and attacked the herdsman.

He is said to have killed Hassan, chopped off his head, and then fled from the scene.

The son of the deceased, who witnessed the incident, reported the matter to the Assemblyman for the area, who led a team to the house of the suspect, where they found the beheaded body of the deceased in the absence of the suspect.

According to the Assemblyman, a report was lodged with the police in Juapong. At the same time, a manhunt for the suspect started.

The suspect was subsequently apprehended by the police with the assistance of community members in Agorveme, a nearby town. The mutilated head of the deceased was found in the possession of the suspect.

According to the Assembly member for Dorfor-Adidome Electoral Area, Tse Jupiter Zieto, the suspect is known for being notorious and has a history of engaging in violent crimes.

He said Selase Dotse once attempted to murder his younger brother by stabbing him with a sharp knife, which led to his arrest by the police, but he was released based on a family plea.
