A 40-year-old man on Sunday, December 15, 2013 between the hours of 20:00 and 21: 00 shot and killed himself after shooting his wife on the right shoulder at New Winneba.
Narrating the fact of the story to the Ghana News Agency, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Kofi Sarkodie Addo, Winneba District Police Crime Officer, said the complainant of the case is Justice Addo, son of both Kwame Tawiah the deceased and the wife Madame Adjoa Mankoo, all of them live at New Winneba Near Gomoa Pomadze..
He said the complainant informed the police that the mother left New Winneba to attend a funeral at Winneba on Saturday, December 14, the father then joined her on Saturday, and both returned on Sunday December 15, 2013.
The complainant further said, a quarrel arose between them on arrival and the father threatened to kill the mother with his gun, adding that, the mother then ran and secured refuge at Madam Esi Teytele's house.
According to the Crime Officer, the son said they heard a gunshot in Madame Esi's house, so they rushed to the scene and saw the mother bleeding from the shoulder. As they tried to arrest the father, he took to his heels running into the bush. Few minutes after, they heard another gunshot and they ran to towards the direction of the gunshot.
He said when they got to the place, they saw the father lying in a pool of blood under a tree in front of his own uncompleted building. He was later rushed to the Winneba Government hospital.
ASP Addo said the body had since been deposited at the Winneba Government Hospital Mortuary for autopsy whiles Madame Mankoo has been admitted at the same hospital receiving treatment.
