Man held by Tarkwa Police for attempted robbery

Ahmed Adusah, 30, is being held by the Tarkwa police for attempted robbery.

The former Community Affairs officer of Goldfields Ghana Limited (GGL) until his arrest was on bail for three different robbery cases he was alleged to have committed with five others in 2012.

He is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.

Superintendent of Police Augustine Anyarah told the Ghana News Agency that at about 2130 hours on August 11, two men on board a Kia Taxi attempted to attack the community affairs office of GGL, Tarkwa.

Superintendent Anyarah said one of the alleged robbers spotted the company’s security officers on duty and hurriedly passed through a wire mesh fence into a nearby community called Booboobo.

His accomplice Ahmed who was wearing a black T shirt was unfortunately apprehended by the security officers 300 meters away from where they attempted to commit the crime.

The weapons retrieved from him by the police included two pistols, one locally manufactured and 21 rounds of AAA cartridges as well as 8 rounds of 0.410 millimeter ammunition.

Superintendent Anyarah said efforts are underway to trace the whereabouts of the other accomplices.
