Man in custody on indecent assault

The Konongo Magistrate Court, presided over by Mrs. Priscilla Yeboah, has remanded in prison custody a man arrested over indecent assault.

Solomon Ayaribila is said to have sexually abused a three-year old girl at Ananekrom, near Agogo, in the Asante-Akim North District.

He pleaded guilty to the offence, and would make his next appearance on September 10.

Police Detective Inspector Thomas Obuor told the court that the incident happened on August 15, when the little girl's mother went to farm and left her at home.

The prosecution said Ayaribila took advantage of the situation and lured the girl into a bathroom where he inserted his finger into her vagina.

The shrill cry of the victim attracted the attention of a witness, who caught him right in the act and raised the alarm.

The accused person was arrested and handed over to the police

Inspector Obuor said Ayaribila confessed having committed the crime in his caution statement.
