A Tarkwa Circuit Court has sentenced a 25 year-old unemployed man to 17 years imprisonment in hard labour for defiling a 13-year old Primary Six pupil.

David Donkor, pleaded guilty on the charge of defilement but alleged that the victim consented and even requested for money from him immediately after the act - the court rejected his explanation.

The Prosecutor, Chief Inspector Florence Tawiah, told the court presided over by Mr. Justice Obeng Asante, that the complainant, the mother of the victim, lived at Boigoi near Jema in the same vicinity with David.

Chief Inspector Tawiah said, on July 22, around 1400 hours, while the victim was returning home from school, she met the convict sitting in front of his house with two other people..

The Prosecutor said the convict called the victim and informed her that he wanted to have a conversation with her but she ignored and left.

Chief Inspector Tawiah added that shortly after the victim had departed the offender saw her in the neighbourhood and he approached her for the second time and invited her to his room for a discussion.

She said while the victim was patiently waiting for the convict in his room he appeared and demanded for sex from the victim but she turned him down.

David then pulled a knife and threatened to kill the victim if she refused to accept his request.

Chief Inspector Tawiah said the victim became helpless and gave up so the convict had unprotected sex with her.

The Prosecutor said when the victim got home she narrated her ordeal to her mother in tears and a report was made to the Police for the arrest of the accused person.
