Takoradi, Oct 12, GNA - A 34-year- old palm wine tapper, Stephen Torgbor, was on Tuesday, remanded in police custody, by a Takoradi Circuit court, for allegedly defiling a 10 year- old girl. He pleaded not guilty and is to re-appear on October 20 this year. Prosecuting, Sergeant Seth Ahelegbe, said on July this year, the victim complained of severe ribs and abdominal pain to her mother, Mama Ashia.
Takoradi, Oct 12, GNA - A 34-year- old palm wine tapper, Stephen Torgbor, was on Tuesday, remanded in police custody, by a Takoradi Circuit court, for allegedly defiling a 10 year- old girl. He pleaded not guilty and is to re-appear on October 20 this year. Prosecuting, Sergeant Seth Ahelegbe, said on July this year, the victim complained of severe ribs and abdominal pain to her mother, Mama Ashia. Sergeant Ahelegbe said the mother then took her daughter to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital for medical examination and treatment after weeks of severe pains. He said it was during the medical examination that the medical officer detected that the victim had been defiled. The mother then asked her daughter who was responsible, and she mentioned Stephen Torgbor. The mother of the victim then reported the case to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service, and the accused person was subsequently arrested.
