Kumasi, July 14, GNA - A Kumasi Circuit Court has remanded Ameyor Masegbe 25, a carpenter into prison custody for allegedly threatening a 16-year-old Junior Secondary School (JSS) student with death for refusing him sex.
The accused pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on Friday, July 20. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Comfort Baffour-Kyei told the court presided over by Mr Justice R.M. Kugyapwah that accused lives with parents of the complainant at Anloga in Kumasi. She said the complainant, a student, sells toothpastes after school and on July 7 this year, at about 1800 hours while returning home after selling her wares, the accused called her to his workshop to buy some of her wares.
Police Chief Inspector Baffour-Kyei said the accused took one of the toothpaste and asked the complainant to have sex with him but she refused as a result the accused refused to pay for the toothpaste. She said after sometime when the accused could not succeed, picked a cutlass and threatened to slash her if she refused.
The prosecution said later the girl managed to escape leaving her wares behind and reported the incident to her parents. She said the matter was reported to Oforikrom police who arrested the accused and after investigations charged with the offence.
