A 32-year-old technical assistant at the Kumasi Zoo, Yusif Iddisah Jeduah, arrested over child sex, has been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment by the Kumasi Gender Court.

He was additionally ordered to pay a fine of GH¢2,400 or serve a 60-month jail term. The sentences would run concurrently.

The convict had defiled the minor at the Zoo, where she had gone with some of her schoolmates.

He was charged with defilement, indecent and physical assault and breach of public peace.

Police Chief Inspector Philip Yao Bebli told the court presided over by Madam Janet Anima-Marfo, that the incident happened on March 28, at about 1300 hours.

Jeduah had chanced upon the victim and a male colleague engaged in a passionate act of kissing at an obscure corner of the Zoo, gave them some slaps and instructed them to follow him to the urinal.

There he asked the girl to remove her pants, which she was not ready to do and so he forcibly removed it and ordered the pair to have sex.

The prosecution said the boy would not be turned on, but the convict compelled the girl to caress the penis to stimulate an erection, and that also did not work.

The convict at this point decided to teach them practical lessons in sex making by defiling the girl and later forced the boy to lick the vagina.

As if that was not enough Jeduah told them that he had captured everything on video and would post the pictures on the social media unless they bribed him with cash of GH¢50 or mobile phone.

They later regained their freedom and the boy gathered courage to tell a police officer leading to the arrest of the convict.
