A Kumasi circuit court, presided over by Mr William Boampong, has remanded a marketing agent in prison custody over car theft.

Isaac Frimpong pleaded not guilty to the crime and would be making his next appearance on August 25.

He reportedly feigned interest in buying the unregistered Nissan Altima, which had been put on sale and fled with it.

Police Inspector Gulliver Kwabena Tenkorang told the court that this happened at Meduma in the Kwabre East District on May 15.

The accused had negotiated for the car at the price of GH¢16,000.00 and convinced the owner, Mr Kwaku Gyamfi, to release to him the original documents covering it, under the pretext of verifying its authenticity at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority.

Frimpong then bolted with it together with the documents and a formal report was made to the police.

The stolen car was spotted on July 7, driven by one Prince Kumi, and when confronted, he claimed the accused had sold it to him at GH¢8,500.00.

Frimpong was later arrested and he confessed to the crime in his caution statement.
