An Accra Circuit Court has remanded a 42 year old mason, Akwesi Appiah for allegedly defiling an 11 year old girl at Daasalam near Amasaman in Accra. The accused person has however denied the offense.
Appiah was remanded pending further investigations into the matter. According to the Prosecutor Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Agnes Boafo, the accused person also resides in the same area. On October 29 this year, in the afternoon, the victim and her two younger siblings were in the house when the accused called them.

While in the act, prosecution said the victim’s siblings returned from their errand and saw the accused and the victim having sex.
Prosecution said after the act, Appiah told the victim not to tell anyone but when their mother returned home, the victim’s younger brother let the cat out of the bag.
A report was made to the Police at Amasaman who issued to the victim a medical form to attend hospital for examination. Later, the case was transferred to the Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit, Accra.
During Appiah’s arrest, he denied the offense. The accused is expected to reappear before court on December 3.
