The Agona Swedru Circuit Court has convicted and sentenced a 21 year old Mason to nine years imprison for unlawful damage, unlawful entry and stealing a number of properties estimated at 28,459.00 Ghana Cedis.
The accused person Kwasi Arkoh a native of Winneba, pleaded guilty on all the counts and the court presided over by Mr. Michael Cudjoe Ntumy sentenced him accordingly
He was also sentenced to a fine of four hundred penalty units on each count or in default serve additional three years imprisonment.
Narrating the facts of the case to the Ghana News Agency Assistant Superintendent of Police, Reverend John Agbemaies who is the district Crime officer of Winneba said the complainant in the case is Mr. Jojo Holdbook a Ghanaian based in United State of America
He in 2014 the complainant employed accused as a houseboy and also a caretaker of his house at Ntakefem a suburb of Winneba.
He said in 2016, when the complainant was travelling back to US he locked his things in his bed room and in another bedroom and handed over the keys to one Samuel Parkingson Howard a witness in the case for safe keeping.
According to the Crime officer whilst the complainant was in US, he had a call from his brother in-law Paa Kwadjo Mills-Roberson who usually visits the house informing him that his bed room and the other bedroom has been broken into.
He said the complainant asked Howard to lodge a compliant to the police on his behalf.
He said during investigations by the Police the accused was arrested and upon interrogation he admitted the offence.
The accused led the police to his girlfriend’s house and where some items were retrieved including one cannon digital camera, two set of base speakers, one pressing iron, three pair of socks, and three pieces of body spray.
The Crime officer said while investigations were on going the complainant returned from US, and detected that the following items have also been stolen that is 7 pair of jeans trousers, 8 pieces of shirts, 1 desktop computer, 1 printer, 12 pairs of dressing socks, 4bottles of mouth wash, 10 undershirt, 35 assorted perfumes, 6 waist belts, 11 flying ties, 12 tennis balls, 2 DVD+CD players, 1 desktop keyboard and also the items retrieved from the accused girlfriend’s room all valued at 28,459 Ghana Cedis.
After investigation the accused was arraigned before the court charged with the offences, he added.
