Galamsey activities have destroyed majority of farmland and water bodies
The Amansie Central District Security Council in the Ashanti Region has impounded 9 excavators used for mining activities in the district, with the culprit miners arrested by the Amansie Central District Police Command.
Abusua FM’s Osei Kwadwo reported that all the 9 excavators have been conveyed to the premises of the Assembly.
District Chief Executive (DCE) Kwame Asamoah Boateng said the move is to support government to win the fight against galamsey in the country.
According to him, the assembly with the support of the police will be sustained to deal with lawbreakers in the district.
He added that galamsey activities have destroyed majority of their farmland and water bodies.
“As we all know, Amansie Central District is a farming district but now farmers are facing a lot of challenges due to galamsey activities. They don’t have lands to farm because the galamseyers have destroyed all the lands.”
Hon. Kwame Asamoah Boateng called on government to fix all the deplorable roads in the district.
“Amansie Central District is one of the districts which produces cocoa in the country, but none of the communities has benefited from the cocoa roads. Deplorable roads in the district has become a major challenge affecting farmers in the district” he said.
