Nkawkaw, June 26, GNA - The Nkawkaw Divisional Police has arrested f our suspected criminals for stealing and drug trafficking. The suspects include Sheriff Mohammed, 28, a scrap dealer, Augustine
Tetteh, 25, Kwabena Badu, 20, and Yaw Yirenkyi, 24, all loading boys at t he Nkawkaw Timber Market.
According to the Nkawkaw Divisional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Fredrick Asare, on June 21 at about 2330 hours, a team of detective police personnel from the Divisional Criminal Investigation Department (CID), in an operation, arrested Tetteh at the Nkawkaw harbour base area.
He said when a search was conducted on him, a quantity of dried leav es suspected to be Indian hemp was found in his pocket to which he claimed ownership. ACP Asare said three days later, police personnel from the Divisiona l CID continued their operation at the hide-out of the criminals at Nkawkaw
and arrested Mohammed, Badu and Yirenkyi at the Timber Market. He said a search conducted on them revealed a video camera, 12 yards of 16 millimeter electricity cables, three old mobile phones, 13 new cocoa sacks, a knife, a quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp an d one hack saw in the room of Mohammed. DSP Asare said when a further search was conducted on the suspects, 32 wrappers of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp was also found on Ba du and Yirenkyi in their bamboo plantation ghetto. He said the substance had been sent to the Police Forensic Laborator y in Accra for examination while the suspects were being processed for prosecution.
