Personnel from the Ghana Police Service have shot and killed a notorious armed robber during an intelligence-led operation at Atebubu in the Bono East Region.
The incident occurred on March 18, 2026, at about 10:30 p.m., when a team from the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) Headquarters proceeded to Ejura to arrest the suspect, identified as Osman Amadu, also known as “Manu,” at his hideout.
Police say “the suspect had earlier been linked to a robbery gang responsible for an attack on March 14, 2026, along the Atebubu–Ejura highway, during which shots were fired into a moving vehicle, leaving a passenger injured.
“During the attempted arrest, the suspect reportedly pulled out a single-barrel gun in an effort to engage the police team. In response, officers discharged their weapons, hitting the suspect, who fell to the ground.”

According to the police in a statement, a search conducted on him led to the retrieval of a single-barrel gun, five live cartridges, an amount of GH¢200.00 and a Tecno Pop 10 mobile phone.
The suspect was rushed to the Atebubu Government Hospital for medical attention but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending medical officer. His body has since been deposited at the hospital’s morgue for preservation and autopsy.
