The Awutu Breku District Court in the Central Region has remanded two accused suspects, Kweku Nukpeta, alias Akpa, and Odei Appiah, for allegedly murdering an ‘Okada’ rider, Abdul Mumuni Ibrahim, in Denkyira near Amasaman in the Ga West Municipality.
According to the court, the third suspect, Agbe, alias Lion, is on the run and is being hunted by the Kasoa Police.
The two who were remanded will appear before the court on May 22, 2013, for the first hearing by the court.
According to police sources, Kweku Nukpeta hired the deceased, Ibrahim, from Kasoa where he operated as an ‘Okada’ rider to Denkyira.
The deceased who did not suspect any foul play took Nukpeta to Denkyira, his destination, around 10 P.M., with his motor bike with registration number GR 336-13
The police continued that the two upon reaching a stretch of the road near a thick forest ordered Ibrahim to stop and in the process of stopping a group of men from the nearby bush together with Agbe beat Ibrahim to death.
“After murdering the deceased, the suspects left him in the bush close to Denkyira and sold his motor bike to Odei Appiah,” the police added. According to the police, upon investigations Odei Appiah, who bought the motor bike of the deceased from Akpa, was arrested by the Kasoa police.
Today’s investigations revealed that the chief of Denkyira who attempted to assist the suspected murderers to escape is on the hit list of the police for that act.
