A 32-year-old pastor has been remanded in prison custody by the Kade District Magistrate court for intentionally and unlawfully causing abortion for a 19-year-old woman.

Pastor Akwasi Ababio Boahen Franklyn whose plea was not taken will reappear in court on February 20.

Police Inspector D.D.T. Wayoe told the court presided over by Mr. Abdul Majid Illiasu that the accused was the pastor of the Kings Vineyard Prayer Camp at Amanfrom in Akwatia.

The family of the victim, Abigail Acheabeah lived in the same vicinity with the accused and did visit each other.

The prosecution said in October 2013, on two occasions when the accused visited the residence of the victim he met her alone.

He then took advantage of the absence of the parents and had sexual intercourse with her and warned her not to disclose it to anybody otherwise he would curse her with the Bible.

Two weeks later, the victim did not have her menses and also started to feel pains in her abdomen.

She then reported to the mother and to the accused about her condition.

The pastor administered a concoction comprising some black powder, water and anointing oil to the victim to take which aborted the pregnancy leaving her bleeding.

The mother informed the victim’s father about what had happened and he reported the case to the police.

The pastor, on hearing that the incident had been reported to the police, fled from the town and efforts to locate his whereabouts failed but was eventually arrested at Anyinam on February 2.
