Bawku (U/E), Feb.19, GNA - One-hundred and sixty-three imitated wax prints were on Sunday dawn intercepted by a joint Police-Military Patrol Team at the Bawku Public Cemetery.
The smugglers, who were using three unregistered motor bikes, however, managed to escape with the other goods.
Chief Superintendent Peter King Gyinae, Bawku Divisional Police Commander, who briefed the Ghana New Agency (GNA), said the Patrol Team on their routine rounds saw the three motorbikes approaching the Cemetery and they decided to monitor their movements.
He said as the riders came closer they took another narrow path and the Team decided to give them a chase and in the process the 163 wax prints on one of the motor bikes fell, but the smugglers did not stop. He said since nobody had shown up for the goods, the Police had released them to the Customs, Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS).
