A Tarkwa circuit court has sentenced a 37-year-old plumber to 12 months imprisonment for stealing a Honda generator valued at 1,500 Ghana Cedis.
Franics Serlomey pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing, claiming that he offered the stolen generator for 300 Ghana Cedis at Bole Bamboi in the Northern Region.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Edward Paddy told the court presided over by Mr. Samuel Obeng Diawuo that, about four months ago, the complainant who lives at Aboso in the Prestea Huni/Valley district, travelled to Nsueam to buy a Honda generator valued at 1,500 Ghana cedis.
The prosecution said on reaching the Tarkwa main lorry station, the complainant who did not have enough money on him, met the convict whom he knew, and asked him to take care of the machine while he visited some friends for money to continue his journey.
On his return, Serlomey had bolted with the machine and all efforts made to trace him proved futile.
Chief Inspector Paddy said on Saturday, May 24, the complainant saw Francis at the Tarkwa branch of Ecobank and made a report to the police leading to his arrest.
