A 22-year-old plumber has been remanded into police custody by a Kumasi Circuit Court for illegally possessing dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.
Danlad Duke alias “Jordan” pleaded not guilty to the charge and will reappear before the Court presided over by Mr Ali Baba Abature on July on 29, this year.
Chief Inspector Christine Betteh presenting the facts, told the court that the complainant was a Police officer at the Railway police station in Kumasi, whilst the accused, is a native of Bolgatanga and resides at Sarbon Zongo in the Kumasi Metropolis.
Chief Inspector Betteh said on June 2nd this year, at about 0100 hours the accused was arrested at Nsuoase, at Adum, Kumasi, with an unregistered motor bike.
The Prosecution said during a search conducted on him, the Police retrieved a locally manufactured pistol and dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.
Chief Inspector Betteh said the accused together with the items were sent to the Kumasi anti-robbery Unit for further investigations.
The Prosecution the accused denied ownership of the items but after further investigations, charged him with the offence and brought him before the court.
