About 15 excavators, Chanfan machines, water pumping machines were seized following the arrests
Three galamseyers have been apprehended by the Asokwa District Command in the Ashanti Region.
The three suspect were arrested on Monday 22nd, January, 2018 when the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area Kwawoma Nana Okyere, as well as the Police taskforce, visited the place.
About 15 excavators, Chanfan machines, water pumping machines were seized during the exercise.
Addressing the media, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Kwawoma Nana Okyere advised Ghanaians particularly galamseyers to respect the ban on illegal mining by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.
According to him, “Majority of them were able to run away because they had a tip-off from the residents in the community about the operation. We managed to arrest 3 of them including their excavators. The fight against illegal mining is still on course and we will fight till we win.”
The three are currently in the grips of the Police.
