Police arrest barber for killing mother

Nyinahin (Ash), July 3, GNA - The Nyinahin Police have arrested a 26-year-old barber, Kwame David, for strangling his mother, Madam Abena Badu, 60, to death.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency Detective Sergeant Stephen Owusu said that on May 28, the deceased went to her farm at Tanodumase in the Atwima Mponua District at about 0900 hours but never returned. He said the daughter of the deceased, Ruth, who was worried about the whereabouts of her mother, went to the farm and found her unconscious. Ruth raised the alarm which attracted people who conveyed Madam Abena Badu to the Bibiani Government Hospital.

He said that Madam Badu regained consciousness on June 2 and told doctors and some family members that it was her own son, David, who attacked her. He said Madam Badu died the following day and David fled to Kwahu Muramura in the Eastern Region to live with his father. Detective Sergeant Owusu said the news reached David's father and he handed him over to the Nkawkaw Police. The suspect was later handed over to the Nyinahin Police for further investigations.
