Kumasi, March 22, GNA - Police in Kumasi have arrested 128 suspected criminals at various locations in the metropolis this month. Out of the number, 15 have been put before court and fined various sums of money, while the rest await prosecution. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Frank Adu-Poku, Ashanti Regional Police Commander, who disclosed this in Kumasi on Tuesday, named the areas where the exercise took place as Ashanti New-Town, Post Office area, the Subin tunnel, Alla Bar, Columbia at New Tafo, Race Course, Dichemso, Chirapatre, Manhyia, Mayanka and North Suntreso.

Briefing the press on the continuous clamp down on criminal activities in the metropolis by the police, he said the police were determined to rid areas designated as "No Go" due to the activities of these criminals, safe for all. ACP Adu-Poku therefore asked the public not to fear to report suspected criminals to the police, preferably senior police officers or directly to himself. ACP Kofi Boakye, Director-General in-charge of Operations, commended the Ashanti regional police command for its efforts at combating crime in the region. He said gangsterism and thuggery in the metropolis were sources of concern to the police administration and added that everything possible would therefore be employed to aggressively and ruthlessly combat them at all cost.
