Police arrest three armed robbers at Twifo-Praso

Twifo-Praso (C/R) Oct. 16, GNA - The police at Twifo-Praso, on Thursday arrested and placed in custody three armed robbers, who allegedly broke into a house belonging to one Mr Kwesi Gyewu Boateng, a businessman, at Twifo-Praso, in the early hours of Wednesday, and made away with an amount of 10 million cedis, after inflicted knife wounds on him.

The alleged robbers, Kwesi Agblenyo, Nimana Ntimir and Kwofie Sammy, whose two other accomplices were said to be on the run, were reported to have travelled from Accra to carry out the crime.

The District Police Commander, Mr Peter Ayirezang, who disclosed this to the GNA at Twifo-Praso, said the robbers, reportedly fired warning shots, broke into the house and ordered Mr Boateng to surrender all his money, then started slashing him with a knife, when he refused.

They ransacked the premises and vandalised personal effects including TV sets and a fridge, worth several million cedis and in an ensuing scuffle, his wife and two children, as well as a couple who came to their rescue were also injured.

He said Mr Boateng and his family were treated and discharged at the at Twifo-Praso Health Centre, while the couple, who were seriously injured, were referred to the Central Regional Hospital at Cape Coast. He said the robbers were later arrested at nearby Nuamahkrom and 2.5 million cedis retrieved from them.
