Akim Oda, (E/R) Sept. 7, GNA - The desire of a 22-year-old faked policeman man to seduce a married woman at Akim Asene in the Birim South District has landed him in the hands of the law.
Emmanuel Boakye, unemployed, who, dressed in a stolen police constable's uniform went to the house at Akim Asene on August 29, this year, to look for the womam, who he had earlier met at Akim Swedru, but instead of the woman, he rather met the husband.
The Akim Oda Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent, Ben Attadena, told the Ghana News Agency that Boakye went to the Akyem Asene Police Station to introduce himself to the policemen on duty that he was on a two-day pass from the Central Regional Police Headquarters. He said, while the suspect was engaged in a conversation with the policemen, they detected from his dressing and the way and manner he was behaving that he might not be a true policeman and subjected him to thorough investigation.
He said at the time he was being interrogated, the husband of the lady he went to look for, came to the police station to complain that a policeman, in uniform came looking for his wife and identified Boakye as the one.
Chief Inspector Attadana said when the police put him under pressure, Boakye took to his heels but the policemen pursued and arrested him after a fierce struggle.
He later broke down and confessed that he was not a policeman but he stole the uniform from somebody whose identity he could not disclose. According to the Divisional Commander, the suspect also said that he was a military trainee for the past six months in Takoradi and came to Akim Swedru to visit a relative when he met the woman at Oda and went to look for her at Akim Asene.
He appealed to the public to ask for the identification of people who might approach them as Security Officers. Meanwhile, the police are conducting investigations. TBB/REA Sept. 7, 05
