Police prosecutors have charged 20 persons with murder of chief of Ardeyman near Amasaman in the Greater Accra Region.
The accused persons were presented at the Adjabeng District court presided over by Magistrate Isaac Addo Wedbes morning.
Nii Tettey Sarbah, Nk?so?hene (Development Chief) of Amasaman, was shot and butchered to death by unknown assailants on Thursday 8th of June 2017. His body was found lying supine on a mat, arms up and a deep and wide cut on his forehead on the morning of the 12th of June 2017.
Lawyers for the accused persons in court detested the arrest of their clients claiming that they were arrested in a Police swoop and that they are innocent as they do not know anything about the murder of the chief in question. The court however paid no attention to the Prayer of the defence lawyers.
The court proceeded to read the charges of the accused persons to them but their pleas were not taken.
The Magistrate of the court remanded all the accused persons into custody to reappear on the 12th of July pending further Police investigations.
Lawyer Afari Yeboah is legal representation for 14 persons amongst the 20 accused persons.
