Accra, Sept. 10 GNA - The La Police are still investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal accident that claimed the life of Suzzy Williams, a 23-year-old prominent Ghanaian actress on the La beach road at about 0200 hours on Thursday, September 8, 2005.

While some eyewitnesses near the scene of the accident claimed that Suzzy's male companion was driving the vehicle, 25-year-old Edwin Eastman, a Liberian resident in Ghana told the Police that it was Suzzy, who was behind the steering.

Eastman, who is now being held by La Police and assisting with investigations, at the time has not received any medical attention, so was taken to the Police Hospital where he was treated before being detained.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Nyamekye Adane-Ameyaw, La District Police Commander said, on Thursday, September 8, 2005 at about 1630 hours, a nurse from the Lester Hospital on the Spintex Road called at the station and requested for a coroner's inquest form.

He said it was the lady who informed him about the accident and death of the young actress and when they proceeded to the scene, they found the vehicle parked at the filling station.

He said the Lady told him that Suzzy was brought in unconscious and initially responded to treatment but suddenly her condition deteriorated and she died while arrangement was being made to transfer her to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for further treatment.

ASP Adane-Ameyaw said while inspecting the vehicle at the Filling station, the mother of Edwin also came there and took the Police to her house near the Nugua barrier where Edwin was picked up.

He said autopsy on the body of the young actress would be performed on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at Korle-But to determine the actual cause of death.

The Commander called on the public not to jump to haste conclusions but rather allow the Police to do a thorough investigation and come out with the accurate report on the accident.
