Two masked armed robbers who engaged armed policemen in a shootout at of F&J Quarry Company owned by some Chinese at Bosom Abena near Kasoa in the Central Region have been killed.
According to the police, the masked robbers who were wielding pump action guns and locally manufactured pistols attacked two policemen and workers of the company.
Police confirmed to MyNewsGh.com that the robbers engaged two policemen who were on duty in a shootout but when the cops returned fire, two of them were killed on the spot.
One of the policemen identified as Constable Joseph Obise sustained serious gunshot and was rushed to the Kasoa polyclinic for treatment.
The robbers managed to take away the constable’s rifle with an empty magazine.
A search conducted on one of the deceased robbers revealed four mobile phones.
The bodies of the two have deposited at a health facility for preservation while investigations in the incident to know the number of items and amount of money robbed from the workers has commenced.
