The Eastern Regional Police has rounded up 15 suspected criminals in the New Juabeng municipality in a raid Thursday morning that led to the seizure of quantities of illegal drugs and stolen items.
Dubbed: "Operation Father Christmas," the about seven-hour raid which saw the Police invade seven suburbs in the municipality, is geared towards ridding the area of criminals, particularly ahead of the Christmas season.
Two slabs of cocaine, 20 wrappers of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, a parcel of wee seeds, plants, two cutlasses, one knife, five pair of scissors and a laptop were retrieved from the suspects upon their arrest.
The suspects, including two women, are aged between 18 and 38, the Police said.
A notorious drug pusher who abandoned his taxi and managed to escape arrest is being sought after by the Police. " One drug pusher left his taxi cab and is currently on the run," our Eastern Regional correspondent, Yvonne Neequaye reported.
"The Police would screen them and process those found capable for courts. The police is advising the youth to stay off crime," she added.
