Police impounds buys with stolen livestock

Mamponteng (Ash), May 28, GNA- The Mamponteng District Police Command, has impounded a Mitsubishi Urvan bus with registration number GT 3489 N suspected to belong to a syndicate that steals livestock for sale.

The vehicle had three stolen goats and a sheep concealed in it when it was impounded at Atimatim in the Kwabre District by a police patrol team.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency at Mamponteng, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Francis Mensah said the team spotted the vehicle parked at an obscure place at Atimatim with an unidentified man standing beside it at about 0400 hours. He said when the police became suspicious and were heading towards the vehicle the man met them midway and told them that it had run short of fuel.

ASP Mensah said the police however insisted to inspect the car, compelling the man to abandon the car and booty to escape arrest.
