Wegbe (V/R), Aug 10, GNA - The Hohoe Police have started investigations into the suspected murder of Herbert Akubia, 63, farmer of Gbi-Wegbe in the Hohoe Municipality.

The Municipal Crime Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Maama Arhin, who briefed the Ghana News Agency, said the deceased was recovered from the bush last Saturday, where he had visited his farm.

He said the Police suspect foul play because though the deceased was found in a posture suggesting suicide by hanging, the copse was still upright on his feet with a nylon rope tied to the neck and loosely fitted to a tree branch.

Mr Arhin said checks on the body revealed open-cuts and head injuries with blood flowing through his orifices.

He said intelligence gathering was at its peak and the culprits would be apprehended as soon as practicable.

Family sources told the GNA that the deceased was allegedly involved in a land dispute, whose judgement is due in two weeks.
