Abel Osabutey, a clearing agent and his colleagues who were accused of

defrauding one sakina Kwakye, a nursing mother have been cleared of wrong doing

by the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service.

Receipts made available to The New Crusading Guide indicates that monies paid

by sakina Kwakye to Mr. Osabutey and colleagues were judiciously used to pay

for the duties of the VW Passat and the Kia Rio vehicles which were imported

by Ahmed , a brother of Sakina Kwakye for her to clear .

To this effect the police noted that Abel Osabutey and his colleagues have

been falsely accused since all the documents made available indicate that the

monies were paid to the customs excise and preventive service for first offer

clearance. Besides, the vehicles were not missing and the process towards

clearing the vehicles was ongoing.

It will be recalled that Abel Osabutey and his colleagues were reported to have

defrauded Sakina Kwakye of an amount of GH¢7,800 with the pretext of using it

to clear goods sent her from abroad .

However, upon detailed investigations by the Police CID it was realized that

the said money was used to process duties towards clearing the cars.

“The report we received initially was that Osabutey had defrauded Sakina

Kwakye of an amount of GH¢7,800.based on this information, we launched

investigations into the case and realized later that it was not true,” stated

superintendent Kisi Frimpong of the CID headquarters.

”the cars are in tact and they need some top up money to clear which the lady

in question is refusing to do. As at now we have finished with our job and we

don’t see anything criminal about what Osabutey and his colleagues have done,
