Abuakwa (Ash), Aug 6, GNA - The police at Abuakwa in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District of Ashanti are looking for one Kwabena Boateng of Hiawu-Besease who allegedly raped a 35-year-old farmhand on a farm. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Emmanuel Akonnor, who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency at Abuakwa on Wednesday, said on July 2, this year, the victim, Asibi, was working on the farm when the culprit emerged from the bush holding a sharp cutlass.

He said the suspect then asked the victim to take off her clothes to enable him to have sex with her but she refused. According to ASP Akonnor, Boateng became offended and held the victim, gagged and booted her down and forcibly had sex with her and warned that he would kill her if she told anybody.

He said, however, that the victim who could not conceal the ordeal, told her landlady, Madam Akosua on her arrival back home from the farm. ASP Akonnor said the landlady asked the victim to report the matter to the Unit Committee but the suspect got wind of the plan and fled the town.
