A 22-year-old woman at Medoma New Site near Kumasi, Portia Boateng, who is two months pregnant, has suffered severe wounds all over her breasts and chest after hot water was poured on her by a co-tenant.
Lantallah Sulley, 28, who resides in the same house with the victim, reportedly sprayed a liquid substance mixed with pepper on the face of Boateng, making it difficult for her (Boateng) to see clearly.
The suspect then dragged the victim to the kitchen in the house that two women stayed, where she picked up a sauce pan full of hot water and poured the contents on Boateng.
Boateng’s breasts and parts of her chest allegedly started peeling after the hot water was poured on her so she was quickly rushed to the hospital for immediate medical attention.
The horrendous incident was then reported to the police who arrested Lantallah. Briefing Daily Guide, Asumadu Darkwah Sowah, an eyewitness, said the two ladies were co-tenants at Medoma New Site, near Kumasi.
About a week ago, he said, a verbal exchange ensued between them after Boateng accused Lantallah of always sending her (Boateng’s) younger brother on errands as if the boy was her servant.
Persons at the scene intervened for peace to prevail. Around 8pm on that same day, the two ladies started their verbal assault once again over the same issue and this degenerated into a fight.
During the fight, Lantallah allegedly poured dirty water on Boateng. The suspect poured another liquid substance suspected to contain pepper on the face of Lantallah, making it impossible for the victim to see clearly.
Lantallah then dragged Boateng to a kitchen in the house where she (Lantallah) picked up a saucepan containing hot water from a coal pot and poured it on her. Boateng reportedly wailed like a baby after the water was poured on her, drawing curious people to the scene.
The victim was then rushed to the hospital for treatment. The case was reported to the police who rushed to the scene and arrested Lantallah for questioning.
