Accra, Aug. 29, GNA - A sales representative of Mobile Max Company Limited, dealers in mobile phones, accessories and electronic recharge units, who allegedly embezzled of 133 million cedis belonging to the Company, was on Tuesday remanded in Police custody by an Accra Circuit Court. Prince Mensah, 32, pleaded not guilty to stealing and would reappear on September 12, 2006.

Mr George Abavilim, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), told the Court that Mensah, who was in charge of the Takoradi branch of the Company was responsible for taking supplies from the Head Office in Accra for sale in Takoradi after which the money was paid into the Company's accounts with SG-SSB Takoradi branch. ASP Abavilim said between the month of March and May 2006, Mensah was supplied with Buzz units valued at 133 million cedis, and "one 4 all units" also at 23.750 million cedis.

Prosecution said Mensah again took delivery of "one go transfer units" valued at 9.400 million cedis but failed to pay all the money into the Company's account after all had been sold out as was expected. The Prosecution said out of the 133 million cedis for the Buzz units Mensah deposited only 23.850 million cedis into the accounts and kept the rest.

Again out of the 23.750 million cedis for "one 4 all units" he deposited only 9.115 million cedis and made use of the rest. ASP Abavilim said Mensah kept the whole amount of 9.400 million cedis of "one go transfer units" to himself.

ASP said the Complainant detected the shortfalls that amounted to 133.185 million cedis and when he confronted the accused he could not account for the shortfall. 29 Aug. 06
