A Kumasi Circuit Court has committed a salesman to GH¢80,000.00 bail with a surety over his alleged stealing of assorted paints.

Emmanuel Osei Mensah, is accused of stealing the paint valued at GH¢35,823.00, belonging to his employer, a business man who deals in building materials at North Suntreso in Kumasi.

He denied the offence and has been ordered to come back to court on June 18.

Police Chief Inspector Hannah Acheampong told the Court that the theft was detected on April 18 this year after a stock-taking initiated by Mr. Thomas Adjei Poku, the shop owner, revealed that 38 large size buckets had been tampered with and filled with water instead of its original content.

The Court heard that 48 large size buckets were half full whiles 20 large size buckets and 89 small size containers were completely empty. All amounted to GH¢35,823.00.

Mr Adjei Poku, complainant in the case, then questioned him, but after no tenable explanation could be given, a complaint was lodged at Suntreso (Sofoline) Police and he was arrested.

In his caution statement, Mensah admitted selling them but failed to account for the proceeds.

After further investigation, he was arraigned.

The Court was presided over by Madam Comfort Tasiame.
