Isaac Oduro, Abdulai Alhassan and Salifu Osman, all security officers, have appeared before a Takoradi Circuit Court charged with murder.

They pleaded not guilty to murdering Richard Mensah at the Government Secretarial School at Fijai near Takoradi.

They are to reappear on September 24 this year.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Felix Danku said Mensah was a worker at the Mark Gabriel Construction Company and lived at New Takoradi and Oduro, Alhassan and Osman worked at the Government Secretarial School.

Chief Inspector Danku said the construction company was undertaking a school block project near the Government Secretarial School and on September 7, 2013, Oduro called Mensah on his mobile phone in the evening but Mensah told Oduro that the day was far spent so he would see him in the morning.

He said later in the night, Oduro again called and Mensah asked leave of his wife to go to his workplace to meet someone.

Chief Inspector Danku said at about 11.30 p.m. Oduro, who was not on duty, went to his workplace and informed Alhassan and Osman that someone was stealing iron rods at the project site of the school block.

He said Oduro, Alhassan and Osman went to the site and to the second floor of the uncompleted school block.

Chief Inspector Danku said the three men saw someone pulling iron rods on the ground at the site and Oduro and Alhassan went for a stone and gave it to Osman who hit the person with it.

He said Oduro then called one Emmanuel Kwamena Okine, a worker of the construction company and witness in the case to the scene of the incident.

Chief Inspector Danku said Okine identified Mensah who had injuries on the head, while blood oozed from his mouth and right ear.

He said Mensah was taken to the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital but died the same day.

Chief Inspector Danku said a report was made to the police and Oduro, Alhassan and Osman were arrested.
