The police at Sefwi-Wioso have arrested two suspected robbers, who have been terrorizing and robbing travelers in the area of their monies and other valuables.

A G-3 rifle used by the military, with 29 rounds of ammunition, a pump action gun and five live cartridges, as well as a mask, were seized from them.

Their names were given as Elisha Akareba, 27, and Anthony Andani, 28.

Police Chief Superintendent Godson Amoah, the Divisional Commander, who confirmed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said the police acted on intelligence.

A taxi, in which they were driving, was intercepted at a spot on the Sefwi-Bekwai road, where highway robbers had blocked barely 10 days ago to rob travellers.

Chief Supt. Amoah said the suspects have been transferred to Sekondi, the regional headquarters for further investigation.

He urged people, particularly cocoa farmers, to be more alert, especially as the main crop cocoa season is approaching.
