Isaac Bentil, a 30 year-old self style painter and an ex- worker of Sandvick, a subsidiary Company of Abosso Gold Fields Limited (AGL) Damang Mine, was on Friday fined 600 Ghana cedis by a Tarkwa Circuit Court for stealing bridging cable valued 100 Ghana cedis from (AGL) Damang, Mine.
He pleaded guilty. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Edward Paddy told the court presided by Justice Mr. Justice Samuel Obeng Diawuo that the complainant in the case was the chief security officer of AGL, Damang mine.
He said on April 24, this year, at about 18:45 hours, the accused managed to enter the general scraps yard of the mine popularly called Ksovo by climbing over the fence and stole a bridging cable valued 100 Ghana cedis.
Chief Inspector Paddy said the accused who was not satisfied with what he had, tried to climb over a container which contained other items to enable him steal more cables but he was spotted by the security guard on duty.
He said the accused was arrested and when he was searched, pair of scissors, pliers, tester, and a screw driver were found on him. Chief Inspector Paddy said the accused was handed over to the Damang police and admitted the offence during interrogation.
